Analysis of China's petroleum resin situation
petroleum resin is polymerized from olefins or cycloolefin fractions produced after petroleum cracking. It is a low molecular weight thermoplastic resin, which has the characteristics of low acid value, good miscibility, low melting point, good adhesion, water resistance and chemical resistance. Petroleum resin can be divided into aliphatic resin (C5), alicyclic resin (DCPD), aromatic resin (C9), aliphatic/aromatic copolymer resin (C5/C9) and hydrogenation resin according to different raw materials. Petroleum resin is cheap, soluble in many solvents other than alcohol, and has good compatibility with vegetable oil, natural resin, synthetic resin, plasticizers, etc., so it is widely used
petroleum resins are usually mixed with other polymers to improve or increase certain characteristics of products. The main uses of petroleum resin are as follows:
first, rubber processing. Petroleum resin is used as tackifier in rubber processing. Adding tackifier into the ingredients of rubber products can soften, reinforce and increase viscosity, so as to improve the processing and molding performance, prevent delamination, bubbles and other problems, and improve the product quality
second, adhesives. In adhesives, especially hot-melt adhesives and pressure-sensitive adhesives, petroleum resins are used to enhance viscosity, elasticity and low temperature properties. The pressure-sensitive adhesive can be made by mixing petroleum resin with about the same amount of natural rubber or styrene butadiene rubber in solvent. However, when natural rubber, styrene butadiene rubber or petroleum resin are used alone, there is no good adhesion, but the pressure-sensitive adhesive made by mixing in solvent has strong adhesion. At present, the tackifying resins used in hot melt adhesives in China are mainly terpene resins and rosin resins. Compared with petroleum resins, the price is higher, and the thermal aging resistance of petroleum resins after hydrogenation is better than terpene resins and rosin resins. Therefore, petroleum resins have begun to replace terpene resins and rosin resins
the third is paint. In the paint industry, petroleum resin is usually used to produce reinforced latex paint, and light colored petroleum resin can be used to produce oil soluble paint to improve its gloss and adhesion. Petroleum resin is often used to mix with other substances, which not only reduces the product cost, but also enables the force value of the electronic tensile testing machine to be measured through the force sensor, amplifier and data processing system, which is mainly improved by the gloss, hardness, water resistance and chemical resistance of the ball screw coating. Petroleum resin has good solubility in oil, solvent and grease, which can improve the water resistance, acid and alkali resistance of the paint film. The varnish produced with petroleum resin has high surface hardness, good gloss and fast drying speed. Alkyd varnish with petroleum resin has lower viscosity, which can prevent thickening during storage, and can produce coatings with higher solid content and reduce VOC (volatile organic compounds) emissions
fourth, road marking paint. The paint used for road signs and road markings is generally called road marking paint, which has normal temperature type, heating type and melting type. Because petroleum resin has good adhesion to concrete or asphalt pavement, and has good wear resistance and water resistance, it is widely used in this kind of paint abroad. The amount of petroleum resin road marking paint abroad accounts for 25% - 30% of the total amount of road marking paint. Road marking paint is usually composed of base materials, pigments, petroleum resins and plasticizers. Petroleum resin has good affinity with inorganic substances, easy coating, good weather resistance, fast drying and high firmness, so it is widely used in the preparation of road marking paint abroad. Petroleum resin can not only improve the physical and chemical properties of the coating (hardness, impact strength and bending strength of the impact bench moving along the Y axis in a straight line), but also improve its UV resistance and weather resistance, with a maximum service life of 3 years
fifth, printing ink. Petroleum resin can be melted in hydrocarbon resin with high softening point and stable performance, so it is suitable for printing ink. Petroleum resin has a great influence on the rheology of printing ink and the stability of binder, and the best plasticizing effect can be obtained as long as the content of petroleum resin in the components reaches 55% - 60% of rosin. Adding petroleum resin into the formula can improve the gloss and wear resistance of printing ink. Sixth, the paper industry. Petroleum resin can be dissolved in water after being modified by maleic anhydride and then alkalized. Rosin was used as sizing agent in the paper industry before. Compared with rosin, petroleum resin has less foaming and smooth paper surface, which is suitable for higher drying temperature. Sizing paper can reduce the absorption of water, ink, etc., which is conducive to improving the smoothness, hydrophobicity and printability of paper. Rosin is now the most used sizing agent, accounting for more than 80% of all sizing agents. Petroleum resin is more hydrophobic than rosin, and the effect of replacing rosin as paper sizing agent is excellent. In addition, petroleum resin can also be used as oilfield water treatment agent and drilling mud additive in oilfield chemicals
since the United States first developed petroleum resin in 1945, the production of petroleum resin has developed rapidly. Up to now, the total production capacity of the world has reached 924700 tons/year. The production of petroleum resin is mainly concentrated in the United States, Japan, Western Europe and other countries and regions
China started the development of oil tree in 1964. Although I am also a master in the development of fat, the development is slow. It is mainly due to the competition of raw materials and natural rosin. At present, there are about 50 petroleum resin production enterprises in China, with a total production capacity of more than 200000 tons/year, which can produce C5 resin, C9 resin, C5/C9 copolymer resin and hydrogenation resin. China's petroleum resin production units are dominated by C9 petroleum resin, accounting for 70% of the total production capacity. To prevent overload operation, C5 petroleum resin accounts for 30%. Most of the devices have small production scale, single variety and low product quality, especially the main quality indicators such as product chromaticity and softening point are unstable. In 1999, the output was about 76000 tons, and the performance consumption was 95000 tons. In recent years, the import volume of petroleum resin in China has increased year by year, reaching 28000 tons in 2000. All imported products are high-grade special-purpose petroleum resin. With the completion and operation of large-scale units such as the 15000 ton/year petroleum resin unit jointly constructed by Shanghai Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Exxon company of the United States, and the 18000 ton/year C5 petroleum resin unit jointly constructed by Yangzi Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Eastman company of the United States, the overall level of China's petroleum resin industry has been significantly improved
the application of petroleum resin in China is in the stage of rapid development. In terms of hot melt adhesive and pressure-sensitive adhesive, petroleum resin is gradually replacing terpene resin and rosin resin. At present, the petroleum resin used in adhesives is 28000 tons/year. In terms of rubber processing, petroleum resins have both softening and tackifying effects and filling and reinforcing effects. They can completely replace the gumalone (benzofuran indene) resin of coal tar oil series and partially replace rosin resin. Their consumption is growing rapidly, and the current demand is about 24000 tons/year. Due to the construction of a large number of highways and general roads, the petroleum resin used for road marking paint will increase significantly. At present, the annual demand is 18000 tons. The annual demand of petroleum resin in coating, printing ink, papermaking and other aspects is about 25000 tons. In addition, there is also a certain amount of oilfield chemicals and asphalt modifiers. To sum up, the current domestic annual demand for petroleum resin is about 100000 tons, which will increase at an annual growth rate of 12% in recent years. It is estimated that the demand for petroleum resin will be about 200000 tons by 2005. In 2000, the resources of cracking C9 in China were 517000 tons, and it is expected to reach 967000 tons in 2005. At present, China's cracked C9 is mainly used as fuel and petroleum resin production. In 1999, China's cracked C9 used to produce C9 petroleum resin accounted for 27.5% of China's cracked C9 resources that year. It is estimated that the demand for cracking C9 in China in 2005 is 240000 tons, accounting for 24.8% of the cracking C9 resources in 2005
