Current situation of the most popular paperboard i

  • Detail

Current situation of China's paperboard industry paperboard is an important packaging material. At present, China's packaging is in a period of benign development, and the demand for paper and paperboard is increasing. China has abundant papermaking capacity, but in the production of high-grade and high-strength paperboard, due to the lack of long fiber raw materials in China, there is still a considerable part that needs to rely on imports. The development of forestry paper integration project should be a feasible scheme for this situation

the effective production capacity of China's paper industry has been growing continuously since 1990, especially since 1995. By the end of 2002, there were more than 4000 paper mills in China, of which only more than 2600 were large-scale. The total output in 2002 reached 37.8 million tons, an increase of 18.1% over 2001. In the next 1 or 2 years, there will be nearly 10million tons of new production capacity. By then, the total production capacity of China's paper industry will reach nearly 50million tons. It is said that since the government should give enterprises a similar transition period in 2000, half of the global paper machines have been installed in China

1. China's paperboard industry

in China, paperboard is generally divided into three categories: one is white paperboard, including coated white paperboard and uncoated white paperboard; The other is carton board, including ordinary carton board and kraft linerboard; The other is corrugated base paper, including ordinary corrugated base paper and high-strength corrugated base paper. In the large category of white paperboard, coated white paperboard is the most advanced product, followed by coated white paperboard. Among them, the lowest grade is uncoated gray background white paperboard. More than ten years ago, China still focused on this kind of low-grade white paperboard

according to statistics, the total consumption of paperboard reached 1991.1 million tons in 2002, accounting for 46% of the total consumption of paper and paperboard, an increase of one percentage point over 2001. In these three categories, high-strength corrugated base paper is the largest demand. In the domestic white paperboard, most of them are coated white paperboard. It is worth noting that in China, coated white paperboard is also used in some medium and high-grade corrugated boxes to replace cardboard. For carton board, ordinary carton board and kraft linerboard account for nearly 50% respectively. Almost 50% of the Kraft linerboard is produced from imported waste paper. Only a very small proportion is produced from raw kraft pulp, which is difficult to count. Some are only used in their face pulp. In addition, nearly 50% of the ordinary cartons are produced with very backward technical equipment and raw materials of poor quality. The market has great pressure on these products and they are being phased out. Among the corrugated base paper, the proportion of high-grade products is the lowest among the three categories, and the high-strength corrugated base paper is less than 1/3. Here we can see why China imports a large number of high-strength corrugated base paper every year. The fundamental reason for its low output is not that it has no market, but that we have not produced the raw materials it needs, or that we cannot obtain such raw materials at a competitive price

1. coated paperboard

due to the continuous improvement of market demand, domestic investment in coated paperboard has increased rapidly in the past 10 years. According to relevant reports, the current production capacity of coated paperboard is about 6.5 million tons. On the one hand, we can clearly see that there is an obvious problem of excess production capacity in such products; But at the same time, there are still many planned new projects that have been implemented, and the total production capacity of these new projects will reach nearly 5million tons

in the existing production capacity, about half of the production capacity is backward in technology and equipment. Most of these paper machines use circular forming and narrow width, and the scale of the paper mill is not large. When new large paper machines with high production efficiency are put into operation, these paper opportunities will soon disappear from the market

Another development trend in the field of coated paperboard is that coated white paperboard has developed rapidly in the past few years due to the strong demand in the domestic high-end commodity packaging market. In China, the coated white paperboard refers to the white paperboard with multi-layer fiber structure coated on one or both sides

2. carton board and corrugated base paper

due to the continuous deepening of China's market economic reform, the consumption growth rate of carton board and corrugated base paper has reached 13% in the past 10 years

at present, China is becoming a major supplier of consumer goods worldwide, and the demand for paper packaging materials will continue to grow. More than 10 years ago, the main varieties of paperboard in China were ordinary cardboard and corrugated base paper, and the fiber raw materials used were mainly domestic waste paper and local non wood fiber raw materials. Due to the lack of high-quality long fiber raw materials in China, so far, there is no kraft board produced with 100% original kraft pulp. At present, the highest quality Kraft linerboard produced in China is mainly made of imported OCC and raw kraft pulp as vermicelli; The second is kraft linerboard produced by 100% imported OCC

among the three types of packaging paperboard, the import volume of coated paperboard increased year by year from 1992 to 1999, and then decreased year by year due to the successive production of many modern paper machines in China. At present, many domestic manufacturers have mastered the production technology and have more advanced production equipment, and have strong competitiveness in the domestic and foreign markets

the situation of the other two types of packaging paperboard, kraft linerboard and high-strength corrugated base paper was the same as that of coated paperboard before 1999. From the import and consumption of these three types of paperboard, we can see that the focus of competition between China's paper industry and other countries in the world in the future is the competition between fiber raw material advantages and market consumption advantages. Coated paperboard does not have to use long fiber paper. The market advantage is strong under the current conditions, so the import volume will further decline. However, for the paper that must use a large number of long fibers, such as Kraft linerboard and high-strength corrugated base paper, the shortage of long fiber raw materials in China cannot be improved in the near future, and the growth trend of imports is inevitable

for Kraft linerboard, it is found from the import classification table in 2003 that there are about 40000 tons of coated kraft linerboard. This kind of paper with both high strength and good printing surface will have a rapid development in the future. It is suggested that investors should pay enough attention to it

II. Technical equipment level analysis of new paperboard machines

nationwide, nearly 50% of the total paperboard output is produced by round paper machines with a width of less than 2 meters. These paper machines are old-fashioned, and the raw materials used are generally enough to be mainly waste paper purchased locally. Some also use straw pulp produced by semi chemical and semi mechanical methods. The quality of these products is generally poor. They are class C products in China. This kind of packaging board is mostly used for packaging consumer goods with strong seasonal sales in the region

for another nearly 50% of the newly increased production capacity, the level of technical equipment is also quite different. Generally, it can be divided into three categories. The technical equipment has reached the world leading level, the domestic leading and world advanced level, and the domestic more advanced level. In order to improve the international competitiveness of paper-making enterprises, many enterprises are constantly upgrading technology and adjusting product structure. For powerful enterprises, it is absolutely necessary to adopt the world-class technology and equipment in new projects. In addition, the diversity and variability of fiber raw materials in China is also an adverse factor affecting the stable operation of such equipment. In terms of operation, advanced equipment also requires many well-trained human resources. Although the number of people per unit output is small, the requirements are very strict. So far, the domestic production and operation of this kind of equipment in the cardboard plant is very few

most of the projects being implemented and planned to be implemented at present adopt internationally advanced technical equipment, which can also be said to be the most practical or the most effective. They have adopted very mature practical technologies in specific design. Of course, there are still some enterprises that are implementing projects with a technical content lower than that of Israel and Israel, but they are also suitable for China's national conditions and, more importantly, for the development law of the enterprises themselves

in order to catch up with the international level as soon as possible, it is suggested that possible manufacturers cooperate with some foreign professional equipment manufacturers to improve the technical equipment level of the supplied equipment by introducing technology and selling key components on a commission basis. In addition, the way to improve China's equipment level as soon as possible is to cultivate and develop domestic engineering companies. Through these engineering companies, the domestic and foreign effective resources for papermaking equipment manufacturing by pressing the "confirm" key are combined to provide papermaking enterprises with attractive prices, advanced technical equipment and engineering services

although China has begun to have some world-class paperboard technology and equipment, the so-called effective production capacity that can truly compete with international products is not large. So far, the proportion of cardboard production capacity with an annual output of more than 100000 tons per unit in the total production capacity is still very low, so it is urgent to improve the effective production capacity

III. fiber supply in the paperboard industry

paperboard is the paper that consumes the largest proportion of fiber resources, so it will have a significant impact on the paperboard industry. In the long run, it is impossible for China to achieve self-sufficiency in papermaking wood fiber. At present, the fiber resources of China's paperboard industry mainly come from waste paper. Although the recovery rate of waste paper in China needs to be improved, a considerable proportion of paper and paperboard are exported abroad with China's consumer goods, and the quantity is considerable. It can be seen that the waste paper price in the international market will have a very important impact on the operation of domestic cardboard manufacturers

generally speaking, there are two major problems in the paper industry, one is the construction funds, the other is the fiber raw materials. In recent years, due to the rapid growth of the paper and paperboard Market and the fact that the fiber raw materials in the international market are at a very low price for many years, it has left a good profit space for the paper industry. Therefore, it has attracted many domestic and foreign investors, making the investment in the paper industry very active. It can be said that the problem of construction funds is gradually alleviated. The total investment of 170 key projects is planned to be 40.6 billion yuan. However, the problem of fiber raw materials has not made any substantial progress in the past few years. Therefore, it is urgent for every large enterprise to study and solve its own long-term fiber raw material supply problem

according to the latest statistics, the total consumption of pulp in China in 2002 was 34.7 million tons. Including 11.1 million tons of non wood pulp, 7.4 million tons of wood pulp and 16.2 million tons of waste pulp. Globally, the proportion of primary pulp and waste pulp consumed in the production of paper and paperboard has been relatively stable in the past few years. In 2000, the total output of paper and paperboard in the world was 320million tons, and the output of primary pulp in that year was 189million tons. It is predicted that the total output of China's paper and paperboard will reach 40million tons and 65million tons respectively by the end of the year 200 and 2010. By then, the consumption of raw pulp will reach 19.6 million tons and 31.9 million tons respectively. The consumption of waste pulp will also reach 17.2 million tons and 27.9 million tons respectively

eight years after 2010, there is a huge gap between China's fiber demand and the current output. Even though China can still purchase this film from the international market
